through the window to lay beside me a soft bend of morning light ~
red leaves turn brown what once touched the sky feeds the earth ~
bought too soon, the pumpkin on the porch grows gruesome ~
fall and flakeless I fluff my wooly hat ~
change in the wind— autumn’s journey through Canada begins ~
pool reflecting, brown eyes muddy the sky ~
lost mine when the legs fell off your lunch ~
for your sake and mine your were always so distant do you have regrets? ~
this dark place… ~
I’ll transmit the ache of my heart… ~
