solil- I quit!

My soliloquy spoke for itself, hey? It was the Hail Mary pass of blog posts, so I hope you’ll forgive me.

I have a couple excuses. I’ve been distracted again (read: manic), and I’m finding it harder and harder to write something from my first (or second) idea. I seem to be needing seven or eight starter ideas before I get to something workable. This week I didn’t really get there. I think the main reason is I was very stuck in what I felt the tone of the soliloquy needed to be. I had a narrow view. I think I haven’t seen enough modern theatre. Or like, films or something.

new month, new perspectives

Get your ruler and grade six art teacher ready, because for June we’re going to play with perspectives. As much as I want to do a choose your own adventure, I think we’ll stick to the more conventional for now (unless you’re into it and then omg I can’t wait to see what you come up with!).

June 3-9: first person

June 10-16: limited third person

June 17-23: omniscient third person

June 24-30: unreliable narrator

Hopefully I can get my brain to cooperate this week, but it’s like my favourite line from Eat Pray Love (a movie I watch to torture myself when I’m lonely), “To lose balance sometimes for love is part of living a balanced life.” Like that, except exchange “love” for “a week or two.”

Please keep sharing your writing! I read some excellent stuff this week and you have no idea how happy it makes me when you write such fantastic stories based on these prompts.

until next week, keep writing
